My Dad and His Generation

are spinning in their graves.

Read this and weep.

After reading that link, it is tough to really

Celebrate Life.

I am fairly certain my son will never qualify for the military, but it's not due to him being unhealthy. I just doubt they let profoundly deaf people in the military!

True story: I inquired about enlisting, but there's a problem. Like my father, I was born with only one kidney and that was how he got discharged upon further scoping on a doctor's visit on base. I figured they may have laxed those rules a bit over time, they didn't so, no go for me. they DID however have a solution in me signing a waiver(about as big as a small phone book). Problem is, any problems that occur with my kidney while in service, they aren't liable for.

Uh...I don't think so. Had it not been for that, I would have considered a career, no joke. I can empathize and appreciate Kim's son's situation to some degree there.

I can see you point longroofer. Here I have an actual condition and this generation is just unfit physically. It's a crying shame.

If they want 'em bad enough, they'll take 'em. Education requirements and criminal record concerns were waived for Vietnam, to give an example.

Look at the wars on our turf, they didn't care what your physical or mental condition was as long as you could shoot a gun. And even then they still took you if you couldn't because you could be a medic or a cook or something.

Physically fitness is a thing of the past for Americans. We are a nation over weight and weak.
