Foreclosure Of A Dream
I came across this photo while cleaning out my files, then it suddenly hit me. I don't think I'll get that casting call from Ian Astbury from The Cult to be their next drummer, so maybe I ought to get real and sell those drums that I haven't used in a long while. The very thought was very distressing to me, it's like writing off a chapter of your life and never to be seen or heard from again. This is silly and I am well aware of it. It just really sucks when I have to make the decision to bring the axe down on the head of my dream that I held on to for too long. Part of me says the extra cash would be useful while the other says, what if...? This call from reality won't stop ringing until I answer it and avoiding it isn't an option. I have to face facts, the dream is over.
This totally sucks!!!

You're a grownup now. Damn. Nothing left to do except get married and have some kids...
Wait, wait... I'll bring over my Korg and we'll rock out the Kitchen.
I'm sorry! Sucks when this realization hits you.
Sucks getting older, doesn't it? But you know...you could always keep them around, give lessons, make some extra money that way, and then you'd still have them in case you get that call! And, if you want to relocate, my son would LOVE to learn the drums! ;-)
But they're great for being passive-aggressive with your neighbors! Keep em.
\m/ Drums Rule! \m/
Funny you should mention the "neighbor" thing. When I lived in Ark. I had for sale signs go up all around me when I started playing.
I remember auditioning for a band in Little Rock, we played, "Are You Gonna Go My Way" and we literally rocked it! Played a few others and established a great connection...until they brought out their original material and it put me to sleep. It's like interviewing for a great job only to find out your boss is say...Pat Robertson.
I might be interested in the kit depending on the price tag...
Keep one thing in mind, I'm not desparate to sell them, just that it would be a good idea to eventually get rid of them and pocket the cash. With the economy as it is, there isn't a big buying market for these. There's a great kit on ebay that isn't getting any hits at all so half of me is feeling like there's a stay of execution. Here's the breakdown on the kit:
Tama Artstar(7mm shells)- Maple(not birch)
2 steel snares 61/2 X 14
Toms:
12 x 11
13 x 12
Floor Tom:
16 x 16
Bass:
24 x 18
Bass Pedal DW 5000 + Tama Iron Cobra
Double braced hardware all around, yada,yada...in other words, this ain't goin' to be cheap. Any musician can take this into the studio or on tour and not have to make modifications. This thing is LOUD!
Don't sell the drums. All you'll get is money and if you don't need the money, you'll just spend it, a tank of gas here, a cart of groceries here, a couple of dinners out here, then you'll pay to have the mechanic to fix the car instead of doing yourself.
Eventually you will spend all the money with nothing to show for it and you won't have the drums either. I know. I been there and done that.
Hey, sucks for me too. I was totally counting on you hooking me up with some front row seats. Was living the dream there for a while. ;)
