I'm Ashamed Of Myself!

I can't believe I'm admitting to this but here goes: I have just become an...avid watcher of 2 reality shows. I hate reality TV but for some reason 2 shows have my attention. (1) Hell's Kitchen - What can I say, Ramsay reminds me of ...me on a bad day, plus there's punishment! I could do without all the drama though, that shit gets annoying. (2) Top Chef - Okay, this one is for only one real reason, Padma Lakshmi. I could do without the rest of the cast. I'm pathetic, period. I'm hoping that this phase will last one season and then it will go away. I used to be an avid CSI Miami fan because of Khandi Alexander, then I found out she was a die hard smoker and the new wore off quickly.

Take all the crack shots ya want, I really don't care. Hell, I'm asking for it.

Hehehe...I can't take any shots at you on this....I watch Survivor! :-o I know, I know..it's embarrassing. But, at least I tend to have a drink or two while watching...I can always blame my watching Survivor on alcohol. ;-)

I can't make fun of you...I LOVE reality shows. lol A guilty pleasure.

I enjoy Hell's Kitchen a lot. Gordon Ramsey is a riot. His accent is awesome, so I can handle all his outrageous cussing. lol

I love "Top Chef" for some reason, but it's not Padma--I find her somewhat creepy, especially after I found out she was married to Salman Rushdie!

WHAT is so wrong with reality tv? I love to people watch, and reality tv is no different only its on tv.

I laugh more watching a reality tv show than I do watching a scripted sitcom. It is unbelievable what some people will do in front of a camera anymore.

Don't be ashamed. We all do it. Most don't admit to it though. I don't know why. There's hardly anything on tv to watch anymore that's not a reality show.

Kim, I still don't understand your fascination with survivor.

Rhea, welcome back to the breakroom. I sometimes wonder if all the *bleeps* make a difference. I'm no lip reader but even I can tell what he's saying...and it is funny.

JL, key word "was". I found that little factoid a bit strange as well. By the way, I've stopped by the library a few times to say "hey" and all, did anyone mention this to you?

Sandy, (strictly my own opinion here) it kind of dumbs down TV. I watch the behavior of some of these people on teaser clips and I actually feel embarrased FOR them. My dignity has no price tag. Plus, it has really desensitized the public at large and I'm not sure if the U.S. audience as a whole is mature enough to handle it. I do actually see your side of the entertainment value. I just get bored very easily.

I also agree that people are closet watchers and won't fess up to it if their life depended on it. I like being open and honest.

CDM...I feel ya, I agree.

But in my opinion, all of tv is dumbed down to an extent. Every husband is dumb and lazy, every teenage daughter is promiscuous and every child under the age of 10 is the genius of the family. To me, none of what goes on on television is even close to reality. I just don't find any of it funny or realistic.

I can't believe I'm defending reality tv. WTH?!?

BTW....Survivor is my all time favorite too. I've even auditioned for the show. But that's the only one I would even consider being on.

Sandy! You auditioned for Survivor? Wow! I couldn't go on that show even if the assured me I'd win the million! I'd piss everyone off in about 2 seconds. LOL! I wonder if you'll ever get on. That'd be neat for you!

I really think I watch it more for the beer than the show. ;-) That's my Thursday Survivor season tradition. ;-)

I'm the worst of all. I watch American Idol. If it's any consolation, I do it for the pure snark-fest extravaganza. Tuesday and Wednesday nights are spent tossing out barbs on a blog. It's good clean fun -- unless you consider the supposed amount of alcohol consumed by the contributors.

I'm hit or miss with Food Networks Next Star or whatever VH1 is offering up (never ever ever Flavor of Love or New York, though). Celebrity Rehab anyone? Celebrity Fit Club?

I watched Survivor in the beginning, but it got repetitive quickly. Seen one reality show, seen 'em all.

Ain't nothin' wrong with a little Reality Smut on the tube. I find it makes me feel better about my life when I see the crap people will do on t.v.
