Your Thoughts On John Hagee?

This is a complaint that stems from Doc Sardonicus' 2 posts that actually moved further along with a discussion I had today so, I am actually curious as to who would back this nut job's play. I, personally, think he's one disturbed piece of garbage that maybe will be smoking a turd in hell some time soon. I just want to get everyone's opinion on this guy. Anyone think he's got the fast track to heaven going for him?

No holds barred on this one.

I am not a fan of his brand of "buy-my-stuff" religion that requires one to spend tons of money in order to receive the true word of God.

He snaps his fingers and yells to much for my tastes. He fills some needs in lots of people's hearts, which I find sad but not uncommon.

I won't judge his going to heaven or hell, but I can do without him, thank you very much.

Since a lot of Christian theology is open-ended, there always exists that possibility that Hagee may be right and those of us with more liberal viewpoints may be wrong. Which brings to mind the immortal words of The Rainmakers: "If heaven is guilt, no sex and no show, then I'm not sure if I really want to go!"

What bugs me the most right now is that John McCain chooses to associate closely with Hagee, giving his warped theology legitimacy.

He's scary. That's all. He, and people like him, are scary.

We have a cult like church that has been slowly moving into our neighborhood. Different families in the church keep buying homes so they can 'plant' the church. They are scary as well! I don't care at all what religion anyone is, but once they start pushing it on me I get annoyed. Believe what you want, but leave me alone.

He's a bit kookie for my taste. I won't be buying his brand of religion.

The line between separation of church and state has become so blurred. I don't feel that religion has a place in politics at all. And I don't like politicians that try to "show off" their religious beliefs to the world. Therefore, I also don't like so-called religious leaders who try to nose their way into the political arena.

This is actually some pretty cool stuff. I see a lot of different content and I was actually hoping for that. It's amazing how we can all see a picture, hear a story, watch news footage and come up with different angles.

Muchas Gracias!

I attended his church for 10+ years. It was a good run, back then. Then, when he built his mansion church in dreamland, it became very commercialized and nightmare things began to happen. I was very close to Pastor his wife, and his children. They really are good people, but something happens when you become rich and famous. I left his church and went back home to my Catholic Church.

...and yet another angle. Oh Chatti one, no shit?!?! Man, I could think of a lot of questions, but that means I have to type them all. What makes me wonder is if a lot of their "changing" was there even before the big church got built...curiouser and curiouser. Of course you are right about how people change once the money starts rolling...in fact, I made a post on it not too long ago. I also have a belief that once the spotlight shined more on him, the more his "real" self came shining through. Kind of like Rev. Wright, who's to say how long those thoughts of his had been rattling around in his head.

You're so right, CDM, about how people change when the money starts rolling in. Look at Jim and Tammy Baker, for example. Many pastors and their families come across scandal once there is money involved. It amazes me to no end. You would think that OF ALL PEOPLE, it wouldn't happen to them but it does. Money truly is the root of all evil.

Complaint...

I could write an entire book on this church and pastor. All in all, I must say, that he has good intentions. He IS a man of God. I know that may be hard to believe, but he is. There is no phoniness there. The thing I couldn't stand about him was that everything was BLACK OR WHITE...no gray.

One time I received a phone call from the associate pastor telling me that Pastor H wanted to see me in his office befoer the evening service. I was TERRIFIED. Turns out that the youth director overheard my friend and I in the bathroom telling a nasty joke. I was 24 years old for crying out loud. However, at the time, I was his son, Matthew, and daughter, Tina's Sunday School teacher!!

Anyhow.... Pastor H was FURIOUS that we told a dirty joke. He also mentioned that we were overhead talking about another lady that attended our church. It was sooo scary being in his office.

In retrospect, I should have told his fat ass off!

Oh my goodness, Patti, that's funny. It sounds like he was treating you like a child! I probably would have told HIM a dirty joke right there, and then walked out, never to return! :-o

As for money changing people, I truly think that if I won the lottery, I'd be the same person, just debt free and I'd spend more time at Disney. I don't want to be famous. The book that I'm trying to write, if it's ever finished and does well, I think I want to use a pen name. I want to be able to go out for coffee and not have people all over me.

Sandy: DAMN IT! DAMN IT! DAMN IT! YOU STOLE MY LINE! DAMN IT! There go all of my cool points. But you're right, money IS the root of all evil. (Myself as an example)I used to make great money a few years back and I really was irresponsible on how I used it. Now, I don't even make half of what I used to and I'm more humble, wiser and even happier because of it.

Oh Chatti one, it makes me wonder though, that as of now, how much of the crap that he's spewing now does he really believe himself? He's dropped some serious verbal napalm lately and I can't even begin to digest how an otherwise responsible person can stand by those remarks and be taken seriously. I don't see how he keeps a flock. Any level headed person who has common sense and sensibility would get the flock out of there, if ya know what I mean. Makes me wonder if he's just catering to the bitter, angry, fire and brimstone thumpers.

Kim, it starts with more time at Disney, then before you know it, you're a season pass holder going frequently in your new Lexus SUV...and the snowball continues to roll. I must say, Disney can be way cool. Buena Suerta on the book.

You do realize that since you've returned to the Catholic Church that Rev. Hagee thinks you're going to hell, right? If I were Catholic I don't think I'd give the man that much credit.

Interesting comments here.

Dr.,

His wife, Diana comes from a Catholic family. She was raised Catholic. Her entire family is Catholic. I've heard that he's been slapping Caths in the face lately. When I attended his church, he always preached how Catholics were doing things right by kneeling to pray and by being silent and reverent in church. I don't know why he's had a change of heart.

That's what got this whole thing started. Relations with the in-laws must not be too good these days...
